Studio Automotive

I had heaps of fun doing this workshop and also learnt alot about shooting cars in the studio.

The interiors were alot harder than the overall shot because the overall shot was already set up and everything is pretty much made to shoot cars like this and only needed a few tweaking.

We tried a few things such as turing lights on and blinkers which seemed to work very well.

I believe our best photo was the one shot from up high as it is a bit different to your usual studio car shot and a bit more of an interesting angle.

Food Workshop 1

This week we did food photography which i fund quite interesting but i don't think i will do food for my folio as i am not interested in food enough for it to interest me. We had the work area in the second studio using natural light and a big white divider acting a wall reflector. We also did not have many props that worked together very well.

When first looking at our conditions i thought our outcome would be very bad but in the camera it was quite better. Even though we had almost no light on our food as we were fairly far back from the roller door when taking a long exposure it looked exactly like window light.

This one i think works pretty well as the table cloth represents an old style of house (grandmas) and biscuits definitely fit into this scenario. Also a coffee with your biscuits also works and the extra plate is just to even the photo and add another curve shape to even the composition.

This one as actually microwave rubbery spaghetti which look very gross but i believe we made it quite good. We used a bit of bread in background (originally garlic bread) to add a bit of depth. We had a bit of trouble with the reflections in the plate but we got over that bump.

Taken in portrait as all food photos should be unless told it is for a double page spread Etc.

Here we decided to take a bit of a different approach to food as we spent most of our time doing the other two shots. The top one is the outside of the kiwi fruit but it looks alot like a coconut. We chucked a square crop on it and a slight vignette and there you go.

The other one is just a close up of the kiwi fruit and we played with the colour a little bit to make it more appealing.
